75th Anniversary Timeline AAOS

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons were having their 75th anniversary and PenBay was brought in to build a timeline to be displayed at the conference. The timeline was set up in the main room on a set of large plasma screens each attached to its own computer running the application. When one of the application kiosks was not in use, it would timeout and turn into an image that made up a larger image across all of the screens displaying the logo of the AAOS and showing images from the timeline.

The application was built using Flex pulling the data via an XML stream. The app also allowed the playing of video and audio in addition to the images shown for a timeline item. Even though the application will work on the web, due to the amount of data that must be loaded initially to allow the user the ability to "slide" through all the items quickly and see all of the images it is best viewed as an AIR application.
