PrepLink Portal Pilot UPMC

The University of Pittsburg Medical Center came up with an idea for a portal project that would be used for emergency coordination. A typical scenario that needed to be addressed was in case of a disaster there was no unified way to coordinate the status of hospitals or med-evac helicopters.
The portal that I built allowed for a person logged in to see hospital contact information, bed status (occupied/empty) for different wards, a searchable inventory of equipment and medications per hospital, the ability to message one or more hospitals through different means (email, fax, text message, phone), and an interval updated map showing the current positions of helicopters en-route and the overall status of the hospitals.
The application was supported by data coming from the UPMC themselves in an industry standard XML format for medical information.
